Making the pitch trailer/short film

So immediately after the Reel Shorts Youth Screenplay Competition I quickly wrote and started working on a small light action pitch trailer for my series. I knew I couldn’t draw at the time but I did know how to saw and I have some degree of drawing ability.

So I started with sketching out a bunch of logo designs which I attended on making a patch on Cho gi. The main inspiration behind the Kamon was Kenshin cross shape scar.

Now for the gi itself I found a simple digital body base which I blocked in the overall shape of the outfit. Now there was one aspect I absolutely hated about the design but everyone I spoke to kept insisting he needs to be there. It was that bloody awful yellow stripe. I knew if I had to drawl that over and over again it what you’re a be a pain of the just disappeared turning the collar into solid orange. The people kept insisting it needs to be of there.

The hat I ended up making it out of stiff fabric inspired by the hokaga hats I saw at my local comic shop. To be fair I wish I had better materials. Connecting what having.

For the like strapped I be used those for my go to constant I made a few years earlier. The letter armed guards I have to completely handmade. What to say those what a pain to saw.

The next step was to storyboard that screenplay. I found a storyboarding template online. Put those out and pencil them in colour them and with pencil crayons. Now the artwork was super rough and sketchy but those were storyboards/thumbnails. In other words they didn’t need to look very good.

So what I got the suit made I started my location scouring. Thankfully for me the construction site for the new Grand Prairie Hospital with nearby and they were dumping a bunch of their dirt in a nearby field. I made sure I looked around in the location was overall perfect. I don’t mean as I was going to get too much traffic and the location this writing) to residential area had a nice natural barrier made to keep it relatively isolated. Those I took a bunch of pictures and when I went back to check up on the location. Naturally things kind of got a little bit shifted but still workable.

It was late August or early September when I sent decided to do the shot. I believe it took me like three hours to do everything. However I may one massive mistake. I should’ve done a good deal of stretching before and after I did the suit. Because boy… Was I shore for days after that should.

A couple weeks later I to decide to shot the opening scene’s for the trailer. I went out to the park found a nice isolated area and began shooting. There was a couple times where hikers walk by term I was doing and finish the suit.

The last thing I needed to fill was a very short I had to do on the green screen. Since I was making a pitch trailer I didn’t worried so much on how professional things needed to look just get the idea across.

Once that was done and I was already to go and start editing. Which took me a good solid month I believed to do. The hardest thing if I remember was trying to find the right start for the to use and sign seems. And of course my voice over may not have been the smartest idea.

Now I ended up doing many of the visual effects in Fxhome Hit Film. Do I think the sets are any good. The not bad and he asked me definitely amateurish. But again I just wanted to get the idea costs plus establish certain key aspect of Cho doing this spell.

The biggest and most important effects for me doing in this spell was hast to be Cho’s eyes. Because I wanted his eyes to be normally white but will occasionally turn into normal and I use this effect as my main source of reference which ever I’m doing his eyes.

So naturally I got done the entire project by the end of October or early November. I did a private upload for them on my YouTube channel in February to see if I can submit it into the Reel Shorts film Festival. And of course did I get in.

The short film didn’t officially get uploaded onto my YouTube channel until June 3th, 2015. And the reason why it got aboard then was because I to go on one of the online dating sites I use and I wanted to press her. Then what and I don’t think that your send the email to our anyhow.

Now what to be there was uploaded what the comments that I received was the one playing out the huge contradiction on how if all the Metahumans were annihilated and how come they are still Metahumans to this day.

This was a very critical and important aspect of the lore that I knew I had to be careful on how I explain that in the series. The fact that this contradiction even exists and I have to explain it became the basis for issue four and five story.

I want to point out doing much of the development of this spell I started drawing and researching autism.
